VMworld 2014 Roundup: Day 0
Touchdown SFO! I’ve been up for eight hours already, and the day’s just started! It’s not quite noon in sunny-with-clouds San Francisco and I’m catching my breath quickly while I wait to check into the hotel.
The One About the Tardis
Having a moment at the “start” of the day like this is likely going to be a bit unusual. I expect I’ll be knocking most of the Roundups out at the end of the day. Because of this, and hey why not, lets also say because of the première of the new season of Doctor Who coming up, this post is brought to you by current and past Dee. From you’re point of view current Dee will be the one hitting “publish” on the post so that you can read it, and past Dee will be the one that started writing the post. From my point of view, current Dee is actually future Dee and past Dee is actually current Dee. See, who needs Doctor Who?
The One About the Digs
I have given Kimpton kudos already, and I haven’t checked in yet. They’ve put a rush on my check-in and upgraded my room for free when I mentioned the “Summer of Karma” (a promotion Kimpton’s currently running). They’ve also got decent WiFi, and it’s complementary if you’re a Kimpton Karma Rewards member. Last year I was in a more “boutique” hotel that was passing itself of as hip and techy. Heck, the artwork in my hotel room was made out of painted floppy disks. Their WiFi, however, was middling at best, miserable at worst. So far I haven’t any reason not to recommend a stay with Kimpton, especially Hotel Monaco. Okay, enough gushing.
