# Designing a Virtual Infrastructure Architecture - Sketchnote

I recently watched [Mike Rohde](http://rohdesign.com/)'s *The Sketchnote Handbook Video* DVD. In it, Mike describes what a sketchnote is and provides some tips and tricks to help you start sketchnoting.

Sketchnotes are a more visual approach to note taking. Imagery, layout and typography are used to create notes that are both fun to create and more enjoyable to read. This is an attractive concept as traditional note taking can be onerous at times (my hand cramps just thinking about it).

I thought that I'd give sketchnoting a try while watching VMware's recent [Designing a Virtual Infrastructure Architecture](https://event.on24.com/eventRegistration/EventLobbyServlet?target=registration.jsp&eventid=927115&sessionid=1&key=252B985BF75E3DB5BEA41160817F8FD4&partnerref=blog) webinar hosted by [Brian Watrous](https://plus.google.com/+BrianWatrous). I think the final product turned out alright, though I hope Brian forgives my attempt at caricature.
